I just wanted to quickly share with you guys a delicious little Melbourne treat that I discovered yesterday whilst running some errands on a less than easy day to be out and about.
The wind was rough and hot, the sun was stinging and the mood was blah. I was in Richmond with mama bear yesterday – driving around, getting stuff done, dodging junkies, when I pulled into a car park on Stanley street, right I front of this gorgeous little plant bar – not the usual type of bar I frequent in the Rich-ditch.
It was so inviting I had to venture in!
Greeted by a soft and friendly ginger fluff (a cat) and an equally friendly procession of succulents, I just knew I was in the right place.

This hidden arbory is tight and fully packed with leafy greens and on a ridiculously hot day, being among the freshly watered flora was the perfect oasis (despite the lack of Gallaghers).
I was looking for something in particular – a specific rose, and I found it, hidden in the back. It was squeezed in a corner, behind a fallen tree that had obviously been prey to the crazy Melbourne northerly that was blowing the city disheveled. I barely even complained about weaving and squeezing my way through the ‘produce’, because it was all just so darned pretty!

It’s hard to believe all this natural beauty is tucked in behind the urban greyness of Swan street, literally a sneeze away from the harsh reality of life on the fringe.
Good job Greenhaus.
What a treasure our natural world is, and how lucky we are to be able to pot it and move it and plant it wherever we chose. It is certainly something to be nurtured.
Steal yourself an afternoon delight next time you’re in Richmond, take a peak in Greenhaus Nursery, 52-54 Stanley street.
